Gratitude is a state of being. We don't have to force it, create it or "do" anything make gratitude happen. Gratitude is as simple as seeing ourselves, those around us, and everything in our lives exactly as it is in this moment - and being thankful for it all.
Sometimes we need reminders though, reminders to focus on what is going well in our lives, to remember how blessed we truly are by all the abundance that already exists. That reminder can come in the form of a holiday like Thanksgiving, where we have the opportunity to share moments and memories with people we love. We can also recognize the reminders in everyday life, and find gratitude.
Like seeing the glass as half full or half empty, we can choose to see more love or less everyday and in every experience. Even more importantly, we can decide to express more love in our everyday lives and in everything we do.
Getting everything we want in life is really about making a decision and taking inspired action in the direction of the that which you desire. Life is set up to support us in beautiful and abundant ways, but sometimes we get in our own way and block this magic from reaching us.
To love the sea is to express gratitude. When you bring your awareness to this gift, to the many other offerings made to you each day, and to the messy, vulnerable glory of your life, your soul gratefully receives your thanks as your presence.
What we focus on and where we direct our energy does bring more of it into our lives. Unfortunately, this is true with the negative and the positive! Another reason why focusing on the good in life, the things we are grateful for and the blessings in our lives right this minute is such a powerful practice. It really does attract more goodness in our lives!
Surrender to creativity. This has been a theme for me recently, really going deep into creative processes and opening up to that beautiful, often elusive spark of inspiration. If you are reading this and thinking that you aren't creative, and this wisdom is lost on you, think again. We're all creative, it simply shows up in different ways.
There is something absolutely magnetic about people who live in their authenticity, and show up for life with presence, joy and positivity. I personally love to be around people like this, people who are both inspired and inspiring - just by being who they are. This is something I aspire to be myself, and I work on showing up everyday with this energy.
This is often the first suggestion when you call a technical support line, what if we looked to this bit of wisdom first when something feels like it isn't working within ourselves? What if our first response was to stop, reset, and take a breath, rather than to go, fix, take action etc...
We can't control the storms, we must simply weather them as best we can. Waiting for the storm to pass, is like waiting for everything in life to be perfect before we stop to enjoy it. I'd rather dance in the imperfect, stormy moments.
Learn to relax and wait for the answer. That seems like a tall order in our "instant" society. There is so much to be learned when we sit and wait for the answers, especially the answers to difficult or important questions.
