Monday Morning Inspiration, September 28

"When you come to the edge of all that you know, you must believe one of two things: there will be ground to stand on… or you will grow wings to fly." —O.R. Melling

There’s something both exciting and uncomfortable about standing at the edge of what we know. We can imagine what might be possible, but we’d really like a few more details before taking that next step, a clear path, some reassurance.

I love this quote because it leaves room for something we sometimes forget: we can learn how to move forward when we simply make a start.

We tend to look for confidence before we begin, before trying something new, making a change, or giving ourselves permission to pursue an idea that keeps tugging at us. So often, confidence grows through the experience itself. We take a step, figure something out, ask for help, and discover that we’re a little more capable than we realized.

Creating has taught me this over and over. An idea can begin with a sketch and a sense of possibility, but some of the answers only come once my hands are doing the work. I can’t think my way through every detail in advance. Clarity comes from action.

There’s a little invitation in that for everyday life, too.

Whatever your next chapter might hold, you don’t have to understand the whole thing today. You can move thoughtfully, stay curious, and trust yourself to respond to what you discover.

Maybe there’s more ground beneath you than you think, and maybe your wings are something you’ll grow along the way.

Happy Monday!
