"Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit." — E.E. cummings
When we start to believe in ourselves, life has a way of feeling a little more open, a little more interesting, and a little more possible.
Not in a loud, performative, “I have everything figured out” kind of way, but in the deeper, steadier way that allows us to move through life with a little more openness. A little more trust. A little more willingness to follow what calls to us, even when we do not know exactly where it will lead, because so much of what makes life beautiful asks us to risk something.
Curiosity asks us to risk not having all the answers. Wonder asks us to risk being moved by things we cannot fully explain. Spontaneous delight asks us to loosen our grip on control long enough to let joy surprise us, and that can feel vulnerable.
It can feel safer to stay guarded, practical, and prepared. To only do what makes sense. To only follow the paths that feel certain. To only say yes when we know exactly how things will turn out, but the human spirit was never meant to live only inside the lines of certainty.
So much of our aliveness lives in the unexpected moments: the conversation that shifts something in us, the piece of art that stops us in our tracks, the color of the sky at just the right time, the idea that appears out of nowhere, the tiny burst of joy we almost talked ourselves out of noticing.
When we begin to trust ourselves, we become more willing to meet life with openness instead of armor. We remember that we do not need to be perfect to participate fully. We do not need to have it all figured out to be curious. We do not need permission to be delighted by beauty, creativity, nature, connection, or possibility.
This week, may you give yourself permission to follow a little curiosity. To notice what delights you. To let wonder interrupt the ordinary. And to trust that your own spirit is wise enough, brave enough, and alive enough to meet whatever beauty finds you.
Happy Monday!
