Monday Morning Inspiration, May 11

"Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you have power over instead of craving control over what you don’t." — Steve Maraboli

There is so much in life that we cannot control.

Other people’s choices. The timing of things. The news. The weather. The unexpected plot twists. The delays, disappointments, and detours that seem to show up right when we thought we finally had it all figured out.

And if you are anything like me, you may have spent a little time trying to mentally rearrange the universe so everything would feel a bit more certain, predictable, and comfortable.

Spoiler alert: the universe is not especially interested in being micromanaged.

We may not be able to control what happens around us, but we can choose how we respond. We can choose where we place our attention. We can choose the next right step. We can choose to pause before reacting. We can choose to create beauty, speak kindly, take care of our bodies, tend to our homes, nourish our relationships, and show up for the life directly in front of us.

That kind of control may not always feel dramatic, but it is deeply transformative. It is the quiet power of coming back to yourself, of choosing peace where you can, choosing presence where you can. Choosing courage, creativity, gratitude, and grace where you can.

And over time, those small choices begin to shape a life, how we live. Not because everything suddenly becomes easy or perfectly aligned, but because we become less consumed by what is outside of our hands and more devoted to what is within them.

This week, may we all remember that our power is not found in controlling every outcome. It is found in the moments of presence, rather than perfection.

Happy Monday!
