Mornings on St. Croix look like beautiful pastel sunrises, sometimes with fiery highlights, and they sound like gentle ocean waves and birds greeting the new day. I love getting into Christiansted early on Saturday mornings and taking in the sleepy vibe of our historic downtown streets. Danish arches cast shadows on cobblestone sidewalks and nature creeps through cracks in old staircases and around old structures.

Early mornings feel just as exciting as a new year to me. Fresh starts, new beginnings, and all the potential of a brand new day! I am a morning person, there is just something I love about being awake when the world feels quiet and still. These days, I am up before the sun, and I get to experience the transition of dark to light each day.

Christiansted is a historic district, and the buildings reflect this. Many are old, some refurbished while keeping the authentic feeling of the town and the design of Danish architecture. The cobblestone streets are beautifully irregular and have their own charm.
The artist in me sees the beauty in all of this rustic history. I love to think of the many different generations of people who have lived, worked and visited our lovely island and quaint downtown area.

St. Croix really has an energy all its own. Maybe you’ve heard it referred to as the “Don’t hurry”, as island time is definitely a thing here. The island has its own vibe, its own beat and things work just fine that way. It’s a great place to slow down for a week or two. It's a great place to slow down, period!
Starting the day off with calm, peace and serenity (and a walk around our lovely, historic town) is always a good thing! Saturday - or any day really - is a great day to visit and stroll around historic, downtown Christiansted. Thanks for joining me for a Saturday morning in Christiansted!

I so want to come see. I want to wear flip flops and shorts and never deal with snow and cold again!
