"It’s a good place when all you have is hope and not expectations."—Danny Boyle
As we go through life, there’s this constant push to plan, strategize, and set expectations. We're told that by doing so, we’re setting ourselves up for success. And while there's value in goal setting, there’s also power in releasing control—allowing ourselves to live in a space of hope rather than tightly gripping our expectations.
In a world where we're often encouraged to set goals, measure success, and track outcomes, this quote serves as a gentle reminder that sometimes, the best we can do is simply hope. It doesn’t mean we don’t work hard or strive for greatness—it means we give ourselves the grace to let go of how things “should” turn out. When we operate from hope instead of expectations, we create space for possibility.
Hope is expansive. It invites new opportunities, unseen paths, and unexpected joy. Expectations, on the other hand, can box us in, and if things don't go according to plan, they often lead to disappointment. But when we root ourselves in hope, we allow room for magic to happen, even if it's not what we envisioned.
Happy Monday!
