"People tell you the world looks a certain way. Parents tell you how to think. Schools tell you how to think. TV. Religion. And then at a certain point, if you’re lucky, you realize you can make up your own mind. Nobody sets the rules but you. You can design your own life."— Carrie Ann Moss
If we are lucky, there comes a point in life when we begin to question how many of our beliefs, choices, and ideas about who we should be are truly our own. We are shaped by our families, our education, our culture, and the expectations of the people around us. Some of those influences guide us well, but others may belong to a version of life that was never meant for us.
Designing your own life begins with giving yourself permission to decide what feels meaningful, beautiful, and true for you. It may mean choosing an unconventional path, redefining success, changing direction, or simply letting go of the idea that your life needs to look a certain way to be valuable.
Creating a life that feels authentic rarely happens overnight. Like any creative work, it evolves through experimentation, revision, and the courage to begin again. We make choices, learn from them, and continue shaping our lives with greater intention.
The world will always have opinions about who you should be and how you should live. But this is your one beautiful, creative life, and you are allowed to be its designer.
Happy Monday!
