Monday Morning Inspiration, August 31

"To be interested in the changing seasons is a happier state of mind than to be hopelessly in love with spring."— George Santayana

The changing of seasons reminds us that life was never meant to remain exactly the same. Nature is always shifting and changing. Landscapes transform, tides turn, and even the air begins to feel different. Each season arrives with its own beauty, its own challenges, and its own personality.

Here in the Caribbean, the transition from summer into fall may not bring crisp air and changing leaves. Instead, it carries us into the height of hurricane season, a time of watching the skies, preparing for what may come, and remembering how quickly the familiar can change. It teaches us to stay aware and grounded, to secure what matters, and to release what we cannot control.

Our lives move through seasons in a similar way. There are seasons of growth and momentum, when everything seems to be opening before us. There are seasons of celebration, when we finally enjoy the beauty created through our effort, and there are quieter or more uncertain seasons, when the path ahead is harder to see, and our most important work may be happening beneath the surface.

Sometimes, life even brings storms, unexpected chaos that can rearrange our plans and ask more of us than we thought we could give. Yet storms can also reveal what is strong, what needs tending, and what we are ready to rebuild differently. They remind us that resilience does not mean remaining untouched; it means finding our way forward after being changed.

Happiness does not come from clinging to one perfect season or wishing life could always look the way it once did. Living in the past does us no favors. It comes from remaining interested in what is unfolding now, from trusting that every season has something to offer, even when its beauty is not immediately obvious.

We do not have to love every season equally, but we can meet each one with curiosity around what it may bring us, and the understanding that no season lasts forever. The winds will shift, the skies will clear, and in time, life will reveal a new kind of beauty, one we may never have discovered if everything had stayed the same.

Happy Monday!
